Kate Tryhorn

Kate is passionate about helping children and young people thrive through collaborative and holistic working practices. She works to support the development of speech sounds, language and communication of children and young adults.

Kate has over 30 years of experience working with children and their families initially as an NNEB qualified nanny/nursery nurse, before graduating as a Speech and Language Therapist in 1998 from The University of Reading. Kate began her Speech and Language Therapy career working for the NHS Speech and Language Therapy Service, where she developed her expertise working with children and their families in a variety of schools, nurseries, and specialist settings. Kate has worked in private practice for more than 15 years and works with a range of speech, language and communication conditions.

Kate’s experience and knowledge enable her to communicate clear strategies and advice, to empower the families and pre-school/school staff she works with, whilst providing creative, engaging, play/activities to support children and young people’s regulation and communication.

Kate has extensive experience working with children and young people with Autism, promoting a neurodiversity affirming, strength-based approach with her clients, supporting their emotional regulation and unique sensory differences. Kate is highly skilled in working with young children who are not yet talking and working out, with the adults who know them best, the strategies, structures and approaches which will best support the development of their speech, language, and communication.

Kate is trained in the Natural Language Acquisition framework for Gestalt Language Processing and provides therapy for children who communicate using delayed echolalia/scripting.
